Legal Challenges

Our Treaty Rights have always been under attack. Siksika Nation is currently engaged in significant court cases to protect our lands and rights.

We are defending our territory from outside claims, pursuing compensation for the lost use of Treaty lands, and challenging the Government of Alberta for its failures to consult on major projects that impact our rights.

We are engaged in a human rights lawsuit against Alberta Health Services and Strathmore Hospital for systemic racism and discrimination.

Our next Chief must be ready — and capable — to continue these legal battles and see them through to success.
